What is CUCET?
Central university common entrance test (CUCET) examination is organized for admission of various UG, PG and research programs in various central universities and state universities. This exam is held once a year. It is a computer-based test (CBT). There are 2 papers for UG and PG programs. The first part consists of language, general knowledge, aptitude and analytical skills consisting of 25 MCQs. The second part consists of domain knowledge consisting of 75 MCQs.
For research programs, there are 2 parts as well. The first part is language, general awareness, aptitude, analytical skills and research methodology contains 50 MCQs. The second part contains a domain consisting of 50 MCQs. There is a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong question. The duration of the examination is 2hours.
How to prepare for it?
Cracking an entrance examination is not everyone’s cup of tea. It may be CUCET or any other you need to devote and dedicate your time and work really hard to crack it. It needs proper guidance and adequate resources. Students in their 12th grade already stay under a lot of pressure for their boards simultaneously preparing for CUCET is a tough job for them as this entrance is not that easy to crack. There are a few tips for students preparing for boards and CUCET that can help you sleep without having exam nightmares.
1. Understanding the CUCET exam
Every exam is different, so before attending the entrance exam or even starting preparing for it, go through the syllabus properly, the exam pattern, the career opportunities, what the colleges are, etc. First, make sure you know the basic rules and regulations of the entrance, then go for how to prepare.
2. Explore the syllabus
The most important part of an exam is exploring the syllabus; it gives you a clear view of what you are going to prepare, which subjects are there, which topic contains how many marks etc. Then shortlist the contents that you are going to cover. Check the marks that are assigned to the topics and how much you are preparing for in a certain duration.
3. Make a timetable
If you are a UG student, then you are likely to prepare for the entrance exams and the boards simultaneously, as the CUCET is conducted right after the boards are over. You would undoubtedly be under a lot of pressure for your boards and couldn’t focus on entrance exams more but don’t panic; take a deep breath and set your own timetable. Create a plan to spend 90-120 minutes daily for entrance exams, even during boards that don’t break your timetable. Stick to it; preparing for entrance can help you revise your syllabus for boards.
4. Practice regularly
You must have heard before practice makes a man perfect. Do exactly the same! Keep hustling and practicing the problems, try to solve sample papers of entrance examination set timer and try to complete it within 2hours. Take as many as possible mock test It will increase your efficiency to attend the exam within the given time and provide you an idea about your weak areas so you can focus more on those areas.
5. Remain motivated
The main role in this entrance examination is motivation; there are many bad phases but never lose hope always stay motivated. Think positively, calm your mind, try to understand how success in this entrance can give your dreams a different twist. If you need any help, seek help from your seniors or teachers; never fear the exam; try to face it. If you feel stressed or pressured, go out for a ride, take some fresh air, a hang out for a while with your friends; it can really help you in focusing on your exam.
6. Revision
Revising the part you studied is the most important aspect, or else it is of no use. Point out the topic that is more difficult and revise them. Make a strategy to cover those topics in time. Revise difficult topics first and keep the easy part for last. Go through the previous year’s question papers; they will provide you with basic ideas about it. Try to understand the pattern and keep revising daily.
