Things you should know if you have a wig

Wearing a wig is no fun for anyone, but fortunately there have been very beautiful wigs in recent years where you no longer see the difference with real hair. But how do you maintain such a wig? Can you swim or shower with it? And are there wigs with gray hair? 

Hairs come in all colors, lengths and styles. As a result, there are also wigs or hairpieces in all colors, lengths or styles like lace front wigs, headband wig and even with curls. Still, some hairs are better suited for a wig than others. 

European hair

European hair is best suited for making a wig, both male and female hair. The quality of the bristles is very high, they are beautiful, strong and shiny. Moreover, they do not need to be edited. The hairs of, for example, Asians or Brazilians have a completely different structure, they are often thicker and are often chemically treated to transform them into the structure of European hair. 

Synthetic or real hair

Tinting

A wig with natural hair can be colored. Natural hair discolors just like our own hair, for example it can become lighter due to the sun. It can therefore also be perfectly colored. 

Wash

You can wash a wig just like your own hair. This is done in the same way, with running water and shampoo you wet the wig. A person who wears a wig permanently from morning to night is recommended to wash the wig every five to seven weeks. It is better to take off your wig for that, but you don’t have to. 

Showering

A wig can withstand water, so you can shower perfectly with it. Although it is practically easier to take off the wig and keep it dry and in shape that way. Since water does not damage a wig, you can also swim with it.

Swimming

Swimming is therefore possible because a wig also stays in place very well, especially if it is made to measure. Inside there are also special anti-slip zones and there are also zones in polyurethane where you can apply transparent stickers. 

To sleep

You can sleep with a wig, but it is still recommended to take the hair off at night. It determines the lifespan. At night we turn and lean on our heads, because of the friction, the hair work does not last as long and the wig can be damaged.

There are supports or a working head to put the wig on at night. If you want to put a wig or hairpiece away for a longer period of time, it is best to keep it in a box, closed from dust and daylight. 

Price

The prices for a wig depend a lot on the length and quality. There are also cheap wigs which you can get at an affordable price. The price for a standard wig with synthetic hair starts from 600 euros. A standard wig with real hair, although processed, is between 1200 and 2000 euros. A standard wig made of European hair, hair by hair, can easily cost 3000 euros for a length of 20 centimeters. You pay 3800 euros for the same wig with a length of 30 centimeters. For true customization, an additional 800 euros is added.
