A transconjunctival approach is followed in the lower eyelid, the surgeon makes a small incision inside the lid’s lining through which the fat is removed fat through and the incision is not visible. A subsidiary approach is an alternative approach. A small incision underneath the lower eyelash is made to remove the fat. Once the incision heals, it becomes nearly invisible.

Who is the right candidate for the procedure?

The eyes are the first place where you notice changes due to aging. With time and various factors like genes and physical exhaustion, the eyes can make one look older and even tired. If you plan to undergo this surgery, you should have one or most of the following issues with your eyes. The skin is heavily wrinkled around the eyes, puffy bags underneath, excess loose skin above the eye, fine lines, and wrinkles. All of these can easily be targeted through the eyelid procedure.

What does recovery look like?

After the surgery is done, you would be able to go back home the same day with a family member or a friend. You would be prescribed antibiotics to help lower the risk of infection and pain medication. Before you undergo the procedure, the surgeon will provide you with pre and post-surgery instructions that you need to follow to the T. This will help fasten the healing process. It is suggested that you take a week off from to recover. Once five days have passed after the surgery, you should get the incisions removed. You can use a cold compress to help during the healing process. There might be some swelling and bruising, which would start to settle within a week. In the coming weeks, the surgery scars will heal and become almost invisible to the naked eye.
